TÍTULO: Best use of game mechanics in social media: gamification of social networks

PONENTE: Dr. Luis Fernandez-Luque at QCRI (Qatar Computing Research Institute-Qatar Foundation). He works on social computing for health. He graduated from his PhD at the University of Tromso (Norway) and studied computer engineering at the University of Sevilla (Spain). He has been involved in eHealth and Medical Informatics research for over 10 years, working both in industry and academia in institutions such as Norut, Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), Harvard Medical School (USA) and the digital health startup Salumedia (Spain). In addition to editing several books about ePatients, he has more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, 45 of them indexed in PubMed and cited 1200+ times in the last 5 years (according to Google Scholar). He has been working in the last seven years in the field of Health Social Media, becoming one of the leading experts in this emerging field. He is currently the Chairman of the Social Media Working Group of the International Medical Informatics Association. His research experience includes social media, mobile and wearable technology and gamification.

RESUMEN: En esta charla el Dr. Luis Fernandez-Luque repasará el uso de juegos y gamificación en redes sociales, dispositivos móviles y wearables, que se han usado para apoyar cambios de conducta y educación. Las distintas propuestas se ilustrarán con ejemplos en el ámbito de la salud. Luis Fernandez-Luque expondrá cómo estas mismas técnicas son usadas para promover conductas no saludables y peligrosas, incluyendo desde el tabaquismo al fomento de la anorexia.
