Human Resources Strategy for Researchers at UMU

“Human Resources Strategy for Researchers” (HRS4R) is a tool created by the European Commission to support universities and research institutions in the implementation of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for hiring Researchers. The aim of these is to contribute to the development of an attractive European labour market for researchers.

The University of Murcia committed to the principles hereto by signing the "European Charter for Researchers" and the "Code of Conduct for hiring Researchers” in 2013.

Now, we are moving forward to define “Human Resources Strategy for Researchers” (HRS4R), thus highlighting the institutional commitment to promote and improve hiring, working conditions and the research career, and contributing to the development of the European Space of Research.

This process was completed in June 2020, when the European Commission awarded the "HR Excellence in Research" quality seal, recognising universities and institutions that generate and support a stimulating and favourable environment for research work.

A period of 24 months has started in which the University of Murcia will have to implement the actions to improve the institution's human resources policy, described in the Action Plan

In June 2022 the mid-term evaluation was carried out by the European Commission. Once this evaluation has been passed (read news), a period of 36 months begins in which, after a review of the Action Plan, the University of Murcia will have to implement these actions again in order to be able (updated UMU Action Plan), from 2025, to receive the renewal of the HR Seal of Excellence.
