European Approval / Accreditation

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Murcia (FVETUM) is, together with the other Spanish Veterinary, under the European evaluation methodology within its policy of quality and excellence. This evaluation system is centralized in the European Association for the Establishment of Veterinary Education (EAEVE).

What is EAEVE?

EAEVE was founded in 1988 in Maisons-Alfort (France), initiating its administrative activities in Brussels (Belgium), moving at the end of 2007 to Vienna (Austria) where it is currently.
EAEVE has the vision of being an official accreditation authority for Veterinary Faculties of Europe, having been accredited by ENQA in 2018.
EAEVE mission is to evaluate and promote the development of quality veterinary faculties and the teaching that takes place there.
EAEVE objective is to monitor the harmonization of minimum standards of veterinary study programs in the European Union established in DIRECTIVE 2005/36 / EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 7 September 2005, relative the recognition of professional qualifications, and in DIRECTIVE 2013/55 / EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 20 November 2013 amending Directive 2005/36 / EC, on the recognition of professional qualifications and the Regulation ( EU) No 1024/2012 on administrative cooperation through the Internal Market Information System ('IMI Regulation').
To this end, EAEVE has established the European System for the Evaluation of Veterinary Education in conjunction with the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE).

The FVETUM and the EAEVE

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Murcia (FVETUM) was one of the first Spanish Faculties to undergo evaluation procedures, in 1996 the first of the evaluations was carried out, being Dean Prof. Francisco Moreno Media, and the most important result was the achievement of funding for the construction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) as well as the cession by the Autonomous Community of the Farm that is currently the Veterinary Teaching Farm (VTF).

In 2006 he received the second evaluation being Dean Prof. Antonio Bernabé Salazar, obtaining the APPROVAL that was valid until November 2017. At that time, we received the third accreditation visit being Dean Prof. Gaspar Ros Berruezo, having obtained the qualification of CONDITIONAL ACCREDITATED by the ECOVE in its meeting of May 30, 2018. Within the EAEVE system, the revisit can be requested in this period to evaluate the resolution of the major deficiency and the majority of minors. The Faculty Board approved in June 2018 to request the revisit in October 2018, working on a SER of revisit and in the resolution of the deficiencies. This review was held on October 1 and 2, 2018, the result of which was the report of the visiting team that at the meeting of the ECOVE on November 22 had orchestrated the status of FULL ACCREDITATION, with a validity of 7 years, 2017 to 2024, with an interim report in 2021 and a new accreditation visit in 2023.
