Research teams and lines (PhD in Doctorate in Political Sciences and Public Administration)

Research line no. 1: Political Communication, Campaigns, and Elections.

Description of the line:

This line analyses the study of representative democracy as a generic construction, the quality of democracy and political representation as one of the central topics in the current academic and political debate. Likewise, the most recent advances in different areas will be analysed, such as Electoral Studies (ranging from the analysis and legal basis concepts that makes up the Electoral Law to the concepts of the sociological and political basis that make up the discipline of Political Behaviour and the different explanatory models of voting), and political parties (introducing students to the most recent debates on the representation of minorities, gender quotas, contemporary parties and party systems at different levels of government) or the advanced study of terrorism and international relations.

This research line also addresses the effects of political communication, the communication of electoral campaigns, institutional communication and government communication and crisis communication. These areas of academic and research activity include specialised studies and analyses on a wide range of aspects: political marketing, communication and electoral rhetoric, electoral debates, positive and negative communication, framing and priming, political branding, storytelling, neuropolitics and genopolitics, organisation of offices and communication teams, etc.
