Royal Decree 1393/2007 establishing the management of official university education (as amended by Royal Decree 861/2010) establishes the general framework for regulating the verification, monitoring and accreditation processes that University teaching is subject to.

Royal Decree 99/2011, which regulates the official teaching of doctorates, is the reference framework for the organisation of doctoral studies. This legislation incorporates recommendations that refer to the structure and organisation of doctorates, competences to be acquired by doctoral students, the conditions of access and the development of the research career in its initial stage, the fundamental role of supervision and advisor in research training, to inserting this training into a research environment that encourages communication and creativity, internationalisation and mobilisation.

In order to avoid possible inconsistencies, the Quality Assurance System to be adopted in this interuniversity programme will be that of the coordinating university.
