Doctorado en Tecnología Educativa (Interuniversitario)

Doctorado en Tecnología Educativa

The doctoral programme in Educational Technologies is managed by the University of Illes Balears, the University of Lleida, the University of Murcia and the University of Rovira i Virgili. It aims to apply Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to learning processes in formal, non-formal or informal contexts.

This doctorate is interdisciplinary in its scientific context thereby enabling research to be undertaken into current social and academic issues, from a preferably educational approach. The main objective of this PhD programme is to train researchers so they can contribute to advancing educational knowledge in a dynamic field of research, whilst solving real educational problems, related to social and technological evolution, and which affect education, organisation and technology.

The main characteristic of research in this area is the speed with which new aspects and topics emerge, by a wide range of elements of interest and is heavily influenced by the latest trends. Therefore, it requires paying attention to the value and rigor of the research.

Research proposals in this doctoral programme are not so supported by empirical study that is quantitively oriented to the generalisation of results, but more to research with implications on practices, more focused on problem-solving and building knowledge directed at the design, development and assessment of the learning process; and well as developing principles and guidelines for future research.

The PhD programme in Educational Technologies aims to have a real impact on educational and institutional policies, to understand the learning process when technologies are involved, as well as to recognise the changes in educational practices.

The PhD programme corresponds to the R+D strategies of the above-mentioned universities. In addition, it also aims to Correctly develop and use Technologies, Applications, Services and Contents of the Information Society in order to take part in the success of an economic growth model based on the increase of competitiveness and productivity; the promotion of social and regional equality; universal accessibility; and the improvement of welfare and quality of life for citizens.
