Doctorado en Tecnología de los Alimentos, Nutrición y Bromatología

The official doctoral programme in Food Technology, Nutrition and Bromatology of the University of Murcia aims to train highly qualified professionals for research, development and innovation in the agri-food sector.

In 2004, the programme received the Mention of Excellence granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture. The programme has since provided institutions, companies and organisations devoted to R&D in the agri-food sector with qualified researchers. This new doctoral programme is one of the tools of the Campus of International Excellence Mare Nostrum and therefore counts on researchers from the Centre for Edaphology and Applied Biology of Segura "CEBAS" and the Murcia Institute of Agriculture and Food Research and Development "IMIDA" and will be supported by a wide and dynamic portfolio of R&D projects and contracts. It has two research lines/teams, Food Technology and Nutrition and Bromatology, consisting of 20 and 13 lecturers, respectively. The programme’s scientific output in the last five years includes 393 articles published in JCR journals, 50 doctoral theses and eight licensed patents.

The programme is aimed at graduates who have completed an official master's degree in Nutrition, Technology and Food Safety or similar, as well as Veterinary or Pharmacy (300 ECTS) degrees. The curriculum offers transversal (243h.) and specific (830h.) training activities related to the doctoral thesis, among which students will take a minimum of 32 and 400 hours respectively over three academic years, or longer in the case of part-time students. The Academic Committee will monitor each doctoral student, tutor and advisor individually, in order to guarantee correct development of the doctoral thesis.
