Perfil de ingreso y criterios de admisión Doctorado en Informática

Access requirements

The internal rules of the University of Murcia (Article 7 of Rector Resolution 42/2012 of 6 February) establish that access to doctoral programmes is subject to the following requirements:

Article 6 of the Royal Decree 99/2011, of 28 January states that in general for a candidate to access any doctoral programme, he/she must be in possession of an official Spanish Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and a Master’s degree.

In addition, students that fit into one of the following cases will also be able to have access:

Have an official Spanish university degree, or that of another country belonging to the European Higher Education Area, which enables access to a Master’s programme in accordance with Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, and have passed a minimum of 300 ECTS of official university studies, of which at least 60 must be at Master's degree level.

Have an official Spanish Graduate Certificate consisting of at least 300 ECTS, in compliance with the rules of the EU law. These graduates must compulsorily complete the training supplements referred to in article 7.2 of Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, unless the syllabus of the corresponding degree includes credits in research training that are equivalent in training value to research credits in master's degree programmes.

University graduates who, after obtaining a training place in the corresponding test to access specialised health training, have successfully passed at least two years of training in a programme to obtain the official title of one of the specialities in Health Sciences.

Have a certificate obtained in accordance with foreign education systems, without the need for official recognition, after the General Doctorate Commission has verified that said certificate accredits a training level equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's Degree and which provides access to doctoral studies in the country where it was issued. This admission does not imply, in any case, the official recognition of the student’s previous degrees nor its recognition for purposes others than accessing doctoral education.

To be in possession of another Spanish PhD obtained according to previous university regulations.

Access Profile

The profile for accessing our doctoral programme corresponds to a student with previous training and education in Computer Engineering or scientific-technological areas related to Computer Science, such as Telecommunication Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mathematics. In addition, the student will have a research Master's Degree related to Computer Engineering with a research or equivalent focus.

Admission Criteria

Our admission requirements and criteria are those established by the Regulations governing the official doctoral studies of the University of Murcia (approved in the Council of Government of January 27, 2012 and available at http://www.um.es .es / web / vic-studies / content / normative). Article 8, which details the selection and admission criteria, is as follows:

Article 8.- Selection and admission criteria to a doctoral programme

Without prejudice to that established in Article 7 of Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, the selection and admission to a doctoral programme is subject to the following rules:

Selection to a doctoral programme will be carried out by the Academic Commission of the corresponding doctoral programme.

For candidate selection, the Academic Commission will use the criteria previously established in the verification report, which must take into account, without prejudice to others, the following aspects:

  1. An assessment of the academic curriculum.
  2. An assessment of particularly relevant merits in relation to the doctoral programme applied for.
  3. Any other criterion or procedure previously explained and duly grounded that, according to the academic committee, enables the applicant’s suitability to follow the programme to be verified.

The resolution on admission to a doctoral programme will be issued by the rector, at the proposal of the corresponding programme’s Academic Commission and without prejudice to delegations of competences or signature in favour of the centre deans or doctoral school directors.

Admission to doctoral programmes may include the requirement for specific training complements, the design of which must be recorded in the corresponding verification report and carrying them out will not count with regard to the time limit established in Article 3.2 of the Royal Decree 99/2011, of 28 January. For the purposes of public prices, scholarships and study grants, these training supplements will be considered training at doctoral level.

Admissions lists for doctorate programmes will be published in the TOUM of the University of Murcia. Other means of publishing them may be established by a rector’s resolution.

The regulations and instructions for admission and registration at the University of Murcia that are approved for each academic year will be applicable to the admissions procedure established.

For students with special educational needs resulting from a disability, the selection and admissions systems and procedures must include appropriate support and counselling services, which will assess the need for possible curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies.

The Academic Commission of the Doctoral Programme in Computer Science will consider the following admission criteria:

The profile of the applicant must correspond to the programme access profile.

The academic curriculum alignment with the programme, considering the following weightings:

Average grade obtained in graduate and postgraduate studies. 90%
