This PhD programme in Oenology, Viticulture, and Sustainability is managed by the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the University of La Rioja, the University of Murcia, the University of Salamanca, and the University of Valladolid. This programme prepares students to become researchers in the area of oenology, viticulture and sustainable agronomy and to be able to meet the research needs of companies in the sector and public service companies, as well as universities, technological centres and research centres; the programme provides its students with the capacity to develop their doctoral thesis.

Why choose our programme?

This programme in Oenology, Viticulture, and Sustainability has been and remains in demand by different research groups, due to the need for future researchers. It is worth noting that this programme is also popular among foreign research groups, both Iberoamerican (Brazil, Chile, Argentina or Uruguay) as well as EU countries in the Mediterranean region (Portugal, France, Italy, and more recent members states, such as Romania or Bulgaria).

Before the creation of this programme, there was an interuniversity PhD programme in Oenology which started in 2003-2004. It was managed by eight Spanish universities and recognised by the Spanish University Quality Award  (Mención de Calidad de la Dirección General de Universidades).

Aims

  1. To provide doctoral students with suitable research academic training in the area of oenology, viticulture, and sustainable agronomy.
  2. To interact with members of other research groups
  3. To identify the research resources available in the different research groups within this programme.
  4. To identify usual and innovative experimental techniques and work methods developed by research groups.
  5. To acquire practical knowledge of those techniques which may be useful for the PhD thesis.
