On 29 and 30 November, two professors from Kent State University visited UMU to hold working meetings with the Faculty of Education, the International Relations Office and the Language Service.

Professors Kimberly Tolentino and Ryan Miller belong to the Department of Modern and Classic Language Studies and Department of English respectively. They are specifically in charge of establishing the study program for KSU Education students who want to graduate as specialists in teaching Spanish and English as a foreign language. The main purpose of their visit is to explore the possibilities of establishing an Education programme so that their students can come to UMU and after their stay be accredited at their host university as Spanish and English teachers and in the mid-term to be able to organise a similar programme for UMU students.

The schedule of activities included the observation of a bilingual class in Primary Education where they had the opportunity to interact with the students, as well as attending a Spanish as a foreign language class of the Language Service.

The stay in Murcia includes a visit to the Infant and Primary School "Nuestra Señora de Atocha", where, in addition to getting to know the school organisation, they will be able to meet one of the KSU students who is doing an educational internship at the school.

UMU and KSU have signed a collaboration agreement for the mobility of degree students since 2017. To date, 3 UMU students have undertaken studies in the areas of Physics, Political Science and Education, and 3 KSU students are currently studying Education at UMU.
