The University of Murcia (UMU) hosted the EUniWell Moot Court on March 27 and 28, a competition for law students from the Alliance’s partner universities based on a case simulation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Students from Birmingham, Cologne, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Nantes, Leiden, and Murcia competed in this vibrant EUniWell Moot Court Competition (EUMC) at the UMU Faculty of Law. In addition, prestigious jurists from national and European institutions served as judges in the competition.

Then, the draws were made to determine the match-ups of the participating teams, and the judges who would preside over them. The event was chaired by the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Mr Pascual Cantos and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Ms Francisca Mª Ferrando. After two first rounds, in which the teams faced each other acting as both applicant and defendant, the two teams with the highest scores went through to the final, namely the teams from the universities of Cologne and Nantes.

The EUMC aimed to develop a Moot Court competition for students of the partner universities on topics central to EUniWell’s key Thematic Arenas to foster collaboration among students and academics while generating knowledge and discussion about critical societal challenges related to Well-being. The competition also promoted the creation of networks of students and scholars with a common interest in the values and ideals of EUniWell.

This event, coordinated by the University of Murcia, was the result of a project submitted under the 4th Seed Funding call, which aimed to fund innovative projects in line with the Alliance's Four Main Thematic Arenas' commitment to improve well-being through teaching and research.
