The Research Group ex-novo SUSTAINABLE CHEMISTRY created for Excellence Campus Mare Nostrum, arises from the existing scientific and technical collaboration for over a decade between researchers from different research groups of the University of Murcia (UMU) ago Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), University Jaume I Castellón (UJI), Institute of Catalysis and petrochemical (CSIC), CNRS-Université de Bordeaux-1 (France) and the Université de Montpellier-2 / Institut Europeenne des Membranes (France).

In this sense, most of the members of the ex-novo Group SUSTAINABLE CHEMISTRY participated as investigators in CICYT project:
"
Processes biocatalytic membrane reactors neotéricos solvents (ionic liquids and supercritical fluids) (PPQ 2002-03549)"
"
Enzyme technology for chemical processes in ionic liquids and supercritical fluids specific function (CTQ 2005-01571) "
"T
echnology in nonaqueous enzymatic green solvents for obtaining biofuels (CTQ2008-00877) ".

Currently, members of the Group SUSTAINABLE CHEMISTRY are developing a coordinated effort between the University of Murcia and the University Jaume I project:
"
Chemo-enzymatic processes continued through sustainable technologies (ionic liquids, supercritical fluids and microwave)(Ref. MINECO (CTQ2011- 28903)", in which participate researchers from the Université de Bordeaux-1 and the Université de Montpellier-2.
