Policy

For practical purposes, it should be taken into account that:

  1. The UMU-UPCT-CMN Doctoral Seminar constitute a forum for scientific communication and debate where doctoral students present the final or preliminary results emanating from their recent original doctoral research. For this reason participation with a presentation is mostly advisable for students in their final years of the doctoral program they are taking.
  2. The Doctoral Conference of the UMU-UPCT have curricular acknowledgement like any national scientific conference.
  3. They can be presented individually or co-authored with their doctoral thesis supervisor(s) if they agree so and consider it as convenient (one presentation per doctoral student).

Certificate of Attendance: attendance to more than half the sessions will be necessary to get the activity validated and hence the certificate of attendance. For this purpose, an attendance control will be established in each session.

Certificates of Participation: they can be obtained for oral presentations and will be issued independently.

The LANGUAGE of participation can be Spanish or English, except for the EUniWell sessions, which are only in English.

The Conference is ONSITE, and exceptionally only online video-participations will be allowed by zoom for very justified reasons:

  1. Be conducting a research stay authorized by the Academic Committee of your Doctoral Program with the Mobility Protocol registered at EIDUM.
  2. Currently residing in a foreign country.

Online video-participation can only be applied for once your proposal has been accepted by the Scientific Committee, and must be processed through the address <jdoctorado@um.es> attaching a copy of the Mobility Protocol registered at EIDUM and/or copy of registration of residency in a foreign country currently and of your passport.

As the Doctoral Conferences are organized every year, applications for online video-participation will not be accepted for doctoral students who are still enrolled in their first academic year.

The fact of submitting a proposal for communication or poster implies the acceptance of these rules and conditions.

Programa 2024

Submission of Proposals

The categories for proposals are two:

  • Individual papers are formal presentations on original research by one or more authors, lasting a total of 15 minutes (10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion). Please note that the time limit will be strictly adhered to. The length of abstracts for individual papers is max 800 words.
  • Poster sessions are for displaying research and they offer the opportunity for individualised informal discussions. Poster is a good format for presenting work-in-progress, fieldwork and results of empirical research when data can be presented visually (e.g. charts, graphs, tables). A block of time will be designated when presenters are available to discuss their posters. The length of abstracts for posters is max 800 words.

Additionally, there will be some satellite activities organised complementarily by the Alliance G-9 of Spanish Universities.
