Where we are
In the Laboratory of Biosanitary Research (LAIB)
The LAIB was born as a common space for interaction between researchers from different areas (cardiology, neurology, transplants, oncology, etc.), in which they can share knowledge and experiences to solve pathologies detected at the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca. The LAIB has 144 laboratories distributed in the more than 12,000 m2 built in seven plants (plus the basement), and in which it is estimated that about 500 researchers will work.
At the University of Murcia. Faculty of Biology
The University of Murcia (UM) is a Spanish public university, located in the Region of Murcia (Spain). Its centers are distributed in five campuses. It was founded originally in the year 1272 under the crown of Castilla.
Our university has more than 34,000 students and is a public university with recognition "Campus Mare Nostrum" as the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
The Obesity Research Group impart the subject "Physiological Bases of Nutrition" of The Biotechnology degree, in the Faculty of Biology located in the Campus of Espinardo, which is the largest campus of the UM.
Health Sciences Campus (El Palmar)
We are also on the Health Sciences Campus (El Palmar), next to the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca. In it, is located the Teaching Pavilion Virgen de la Arrixaca (PUVA), where classes, seminars and workshops of the medical degree are taught mainly from the 3rd to the 6th year.
