PRESENTATION Meta-analysis has become a research methodology which is routinely being applied to multiple empirical sciences, such as Psychology, Education, Criminology, Physical Therapy and Social and Health Sciences in general. The aim of this methodology is to quantitatively integrate the research results about a given problem and thus, to direct future research in that area. To achieve this aim, meta-analysis requires the application of the same standards of scientific rigor that are demanded in the development of empirical research studies, as well as in the use of statistical methods specifically designed to deal with this type of data.
