Grupo Bilingüe Inglés
Academic year 2019-2020
Learning in English is a choice increasingly demanded by our home students as well as by students taking part in mobility programmes. They are European students as well as from other Universities all over the world whose integration contributes to the rich cultural diversity of our classrooms.
Bilingual education is a priority for Campus Mare Nostrum and, as a member, for the University of Murcia too. As International Excellence Campus, our goal is to reach teaching excellence and to contribute to the growth and the implementation of the knowledge society. The bilingual group in Primary Education is the first CMN bilingual degree and it is a response to the required training needs of Primary Education teachers' in the new social context. Language skills are nowadays essential and teachers should be ready to teach in English and to communicate with the international community in multicultural contexts. Moreover, this group will allow students who attended the Bilingual Secondary Education to continue to benefit from a quality university education in English.
Our faculty understands that students joining this bilingual group are the potential and natural candidates for the MENTION IN ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. These students start from a recognized level of English and, in joining studies in this language, they show their compromise with self improvement while making evident their commitment with school education in English.
Students taking part in the bilingual group will have their grades weighted by adding 2 additional points to their final qualifications, so that their access to the MENTION IN ENGLISH AS FOREIGN LANGUAGE is made easier for these students than for those who completed their studies in Spanish.
To this very purpose, students in the bilingual group will benefit from a specific aid scheme to take part in training and language courses, certifying exams and specific courses for the teaching in English in this University.
The participation in this project will be set out in the European Suplement to the students' degree and, when appropriate, in the transcript of records.
- The bilingual group will hold 60 students all of whom will be new admissions into the Degree. Should the number of students be under this figure, the Dean will assess if this modality will be delivered.
- All students admitted to the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education, after the pre-registration period has finished, can apply for the bilingual group as long as they meet, at least, one of the following requirements:
- To be a national of a country in which English is the official or a co-official language(proof of identity through passport or ID will be required)
- To hold, at least, an official B1 level certificate of English and have studied Bachillerato Bilingüe.
- The application form will be available at the time of registration and must be submitted in the Secretariat of the Dean Office.
- In the event that the demand is higher than the number of available posts, students will be selected in the following order:
- Foreign students in whose countries English is the official or a co-official language (proof of identity through passport or ID will be required) or students who have an officially certified C2 level of English and have studied Bachillerato Bilingüe.

60% of the credits, over 120 ECTS, will be taught in English by highly qualified teachers, the number of credits corresponding to not less than 15 subjects plus Traineeship at School I and II.
