The activities related to mobility available to students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences are national and international mobility programs and internships in companies abroad. Students who participate in mobility programs receive an academic recognition established in the bases of each program and which is included in the university regulations. In addition, professors and administrative and service personnel can also benefit from mobility programs. These programs are managed at the University of Murcia by the International Relations Service, the Vice-rectorate for Students, (SICUE: Spanish University Student Exchange) and the mobility coordinator of the center.
- To promote internationalization in the areas of teaching, research and management.
- To promote national and international cooperation agreements that allow the exchange and mutual enrichment between university centers and between the University and other social agents.
Very important for students coming to study
The facilities of the San Javier Campus are located in C/ Argentina S/N, 30.700 Santiago de la Ribera (Murcia), between the Shopping Centre called Dos Mares and Santiago de la Ribera Beach. This coastal city is 50 Km from the capital, Murcia, and 35 Km from the historical city of Cartagena.
How to acces
You can check how to get to the Faculty of Sport Sciences (Facultad de Ciencias del Deporte) and calculate the route to get there. The common bus shuttle for Murcia capital is number 70 (Latbus); it is strongly recommended to find accommodation in San Javier or Santiago, where our Faculty is located, to ensure the compatibility between studies and timetables, because the conveying line does not meet the real needs of students.
The lecture rooms of the official studies in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deporte), as well as most of the services, are located in the three floors building (Faculty Blueprint), since 2009. The facilities of the Faculty of Sport Sciences are subdivided according to their architecture (Basement, Ground Floor, Floor 1, Floor 2, Floor 3 and Roof). Its distribution is mainly orientated towards lecture rooms, administration spaces, lectures’ offices, laboratories, meeting rooms and multi-purpose spaces. These spaces are primarily for teaching and research use, but can be requested and reserved for other university and non-university activities (see space reservations). Many of these spaces can be seen in the photographs on this page.
For practical classes, we have a football pitch and an adjacent multi-sports court, while the rest of sport infrastructures are located in the San Javier Town Hall sport facilities (located 3 kilometers far from the lecture building and professor offices). You can find facilities of a great quality with indoor sport pavilions and multi-sports courts, sports hall, clay and hard tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, paddle tennis court, football pitch, athletics tracks, court wall, rugby field, among other services (check the sport facilities map). It stands out for its accessibility and proximity to the city centre of San Javier and the Faculty of Sport Sciences.
In accordance with the Organic Law 8/2015 of 22th of July on the modification of the protection system for childhood and adolescence, once you arrive, you must bring a “Criminal Record Certificate” from your home country to study any of the subjects from our Degree in Sport Sciences, as it is possible to have contact with children in the practical part of these subjects.
Please, bear in mind that if you want to take practical classes, you must bring the necessary sport clothing and footwear. It is also important to remember that the climate in Santiago de la Ribera is gentle in winter and hot in summer, with little rainfall during the winter but very intense.
Related to accommodation, even though there is a wide range of hotels and hostels, the advice is to rent a house or a room sharing the flat with other Faculty students. As we are located in a summer holiday resort near the coast, you will be able to find rents with interesting prices during your stay with us. More information https://vimur.um.es .
Finally, there are municipalities around our town such as San Pedro del Pinatar or Los Alcázares which have an interesting range of restaurants, water sport and leisure activities for young and adventurous people in a cosmopolitan environment where many tourists from all over Europe come together in search of a good climate and quality of life.
