Maria del Mar Sanchez
Senior Lecturer in Educational Technology
María del Mar is PhD in Pedagogy and works as Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education in the University of Murcia (Spain). Since she discovered the potential of technology, she was passionate about its application in educational environments.
In 2007 she worked in Madrid with a scholarship in the National Center of Educational Information and Communication, funded by the Ministry of Education, working on educational aspects related to e-learning. Later, she worked as PhD student, thanks to the Training Plan of the Ministry of Education University (FPU) at the University of Murcia. In 2009 she made a research fellowship at the University of Cambridge and Liverpool John Moore University (UK), which gave her the opportunity to work in the use of Semantic Web technologies for educational environments. In 2010 she presented her doctoral thesis with the tittle “Online environments for assessing learning based on Semantic Web tools,” which achieved a cum laude mark and it was presented under an European mention.
In 2010 and 2011 she worked as a lecturer at the center attached to the University of Murcia “ISEN training”, teaching to future Primary teachers. Since 2011 she is working as Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Didactics (Teaching) and School Organization, in the Faculty of Education at the University of Murcia (Spain). Mainly, she teaches in the degrees of Pedagogy, Social Education, Future Primary school teachers and future Kindergarden Teachers; and she also teaches in the Master of Technology Enhanced Learning, in subjects related to ICT and education. Sometimes she has the opportunity to collaborate with other institutions in the training of teachers to implement ICT in their classrooms.
She is part of the Group of Research Educational Technology (GITE) at the University of Murcia. Thanks to that, she can participate with her colleagues in National and International research projects, related to the implementation of ICT in education and society, she also has the oportunity to participate in national and international conferences, and publishing her findings in papers and books. Currently, she is interested in digital competences of students and teachers, social networks in educational environments, new approaches to ICT (Flipped Classroom) and new network models (MOOC).
