European Sociological Association Conference, Murcia, Spain Sept 23-26 2003

In a period of accelerated transformations such as the one we are living through-political, social and economic transformations-it becomes particularly crucial to take a critical view of their historical path and direction.

Historical sociology is not a sociology of events of the past, but a critical appraisal of the trend of transformation at work in current forms of social life and organisation. We face serious challenges in understanding current changes; historical sociology can provide the distance needed for deeper exploring their meanings.

We expect from proposed papers that they put under a historical perspective current changes in order to highlight problems, questions and signification involved.

Deadline for submitting an abstract is February 28, 2003. Abstracts should not exceed 200 words. Notification of acceptance will be sent by April 30, 2003.
