Doctorado en Economía (Interuniversitario) (Programa DEcIDE)

Doctorado en Economía

DEcIDE is a programme of the Interuniversity PhD programme in Economics constituted by professors from five different universities: the University of Murcia (coordinator), University of Alicante, University of Miguel Hernández, National Distance Education University, and the Technical University of Cartagena.

This programme arises from the wishes of a group of researchers who wanted to join forces, fields of specialisation and academic rigour, so that doctoral students could acquire quality qualifications in the research line chosen, and write high-quality theses that would become important publications.

The doctoral programme is constituted by 61 PhDs belonging to the five above-mentioned universities. All of the researchers are specialists who have great reputations in their research areas.

Students will choose from nine different research lines, designed in accordance with the specialisation of the participating professors. The research lines are as follows:

  • Health and Behavioural Economics;
  • Finances;
  • Mathematical Economics and Social Choice;
  • Game Theory;
  • International Macroeconomics, Growth and Public Policies;
  • International Trade, Industrial Organisation and Service Economics;
  • History of Economics;
  • Empirical Economic Cycles and Times-Series Econometrics;
  • Spatial Econometrics, Micro-econometrics, and Statistical Inference.

International connections are an important aspect of this programme and thus we have signed collaboration agreements with scholars from the Erasmus School of Economics in Rotterdam, all of whom are specialised in health economics; macroeconomists and econometrists from Duke University, Kansas State University, the International Monetary Fund or the University of Montreal; PhDs from Oxford University and the University of Minnesota, among others. These collaborations are available in every research line offered as well as in different areas of this programme’s activities. Therefore, there will be seminars, research stays, co-supervision of doctoral theses, etc.

The working languages will be Spanish and English. At the end of the programme, students will receive recognition as PhDs from those five universities.
