XX INTERNATIONAL VIOLIN COMPETITION "MURCIA 2010"

REGULATIONS

  1. PARTICIPANTS:
    1. The Competition is exclusively for the members of the orchestras participating in the International Festival of Youth Orchestras, Murcia 2010.
    2. The age limit is 25 (born after 22nd March 1984)
  2. PERFORMANCE:
    1. The competition for Violin will take place On Friday, 26st March 2010. The participants will be informed of the time and place of the competition.
    2. The performances will take place in a single session in which the participants must perform one compulsory pieces and one of their own choice.
    3. The compulsory pieces from which to choose for the Violin Competition are the following: - First movement with cadenza, to choose between the Concertos for violin and orchestra: Mozart nº4 in D Major KV 211, nº3 en G Major KV 216 and nº5 in A Major KV 219. - From the Sonata for Violin, solo nº 1 en G minor, BWV 1001 by J.S. Bach: 2 movement. Adagio and Fuga - “Aires Gitanos (Gypsy Airs)” by P. Sarasate.
    4. The participant’s piece of choice can be for violin alone or accompanied by piano In the second case, the participant can bring their own accompanying pianist or, if necessary, the Festival organisers can provide one. The piece or fragment of the piece can be no longer than 10 minutes.
    5. A draw prior to the performances will decide the order in which participants are to perform.
  3. PANEL OF JUDGES:
    1. The Panel of Judges will be chosen by the organisers and made up of renowned figures in the field of music and teachers whose speciality is the instrument with which the competitors will participate.
    2. The Panel’s decision will be announced at the Festival’s closing concert and will be presented by the authorities at the ceremony.
  4. PRIZES:
    1. There will be a prize of 1,500 € and a supporting diploma.
    2. In the instance that there is a tie the Panel will divide the prize into two equal parts. The supporting diploma will be issued to reflect this.
    3. The Panel has the right to award a second prize if it sees fit, based on the stipulations it deems to be adequate. A supporting diploma will be issued to this effect.
    4. The Panel can declare the competition void if it so esteems.
  5. ENROLMENT:
    1. Participants should send an e-mail with the following details to jaclemen@um.es prior to 28th February 2010:
      • Full name, date and place of birth.
      • The Orchestra which they are part of.
      • Both the compulsory piece and the piece of their choice that they will perform.
      • If they will bring an accompanying musician or whether the organisation should provide one.
    2. Any doubt or unexpected incident will be resolved according to the criteria of the organising committee.
    3. The Panel’s decision in final. Enrolment in the competition implies the acceptance of the above regulations.
