What is biology?
Biology studies life in all its complexity from molecular to population level. It has a great effect on all aspects concerning human development, the environment, human and animal health, the food industry, etc. This needs an interdisciplinary and integrating approach, which mean an education of great plasticity which will prepare students for future employment. Masters programmes that specialise in one of the subjects studied in the first degree course can be followed at the Faculty of Biology.
Admission profile
The future student of Biology will be interested in questions related with the subject, and show special sensitivity towards environmental topics and living beings in all their forms, and aim to further his/her understanding, interpretation and practical application of the same. Although no specific previous knowledge is required, the minimum entrance requirement will be level 2 of the Spanish Secondary Education level (2º de Bachiller), especially having studied the Science-Technology or Health science branches. Whatever the case, a knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry biology and geology will be an advantage. A knowledge of English and basic computing skills are also advantageous.
