The "Laboratorio de Optica de la Universidad de Murcia (LOUM)" is a world leader research team working in Visual, Adaptive and Biomedical Optics.
It was funded and directed by Prof. Pablo Artal since 1994. The main research lines of the lab are the study of the optical properties of the human eye by using the most advanced and sophisticated photonics technologies, the development of pioneer adaptive optics instruments to be used in vision, the application of multiphpton microscopy in the eye and clinical studies related to new concepts of intraocular lenses.
The LOUM activities range from the most fundamental problems in the eye to real applications providing patients with solutions for their visual problems.
